The city sits on the [[Floodplains]] that divide Southern [[Izril]] from the human-colonized northern half of the continent. It has a lot of natural defenses; the only way to reach it is from the north and the south. The mountains make it impassable, and the southern border is guarded by the highly dangerous [[Blood Fields]].<ref name="ch.1.23" /> Furthermore, it is always flooded for the first two months of Spring every year, due to its natural geography and nonstop rainfall. The First Antinium War is dated about 24 years before Erin's arrival near Liscor.

The [[Liscorian Army]] was commanded by General [[Sserys]] and was regarded one of the strongest forces on the continent. They were available for hire as a mercenary force and thus away from Liscor fighting in the defense of the [[Walled Cities]] when the Antinium made a push towards the northern part of the continent.

Liscor was sieged by the Antinium who couldn't scale its walls. Sserys arrived from the south to relieve the siege but was stopped short before the city. A coalition army of Humans under [[Magnolia Reinhart]] could drive off the Antinium however. In the autumn when [[Erin Solstice|Erin]] arrived near Liscor and started her business at the first [[The Wandering Inn|Wandering Inn]], a drake shepherd had discovered ancient ruins ten miles to the southwest of the city. This attracted many adventurers towards the city. Many adventurers and merchants arrived from the predominantly-human north half of the continent, among them five silver-rank teams chose to explore these ruins. ''(see: [[Ruins of Liscor]])''

As the expedition of these five teams failed, they triggered [[Skinner's Attack on Liscor]]. The undead guardian of the ruins invaded the city and killed many inhabitants, but was driven off towards the Wandering Inn, where [[Skinner]] was slain.<ref name="1.44" /> Afterwards, the ruins were checked and found mostly empty. Following these events, the noble thief, [[Lyonette du Marquin|Lyonette]], who had been present in the city ever since the human's arrival, caused her second fire in Liscor's marketplace. In that same winter, Erin installed a [[Magical Door]] in her inn, first only leading to [[Celum]]. Also, a [Necromancer] [[Reiss|Goblin Lord]] bypassed Liscor on his way into the human filled north of the continent.

===Volume 5===
At the onset of spring, adventurers in Liscor's dungeon triggered the [[Moth's Attack on Liscor]], which nearly led to the destruction of the city, but was fended off with help from gold-rank adventuring teams, Antinium, Celum's city watch, and adventurers arriving from [[Pallass]]. This event was broadcasted by magical spells and orbs all over [[Innworld]] and made Liscor's dungeon famous as an adventuring place. It was declared a gold-rank dungeon.

Some time later, [[Raskghar]] inhabitants of the dungeon started another attack on Liscor and abducted Gnoll citizens to gain strength from a blood ritual. Their plan was prevented, and their [[Calruz|leader]] was imprisoned.

The stone-and-wood architecture of Liscor has lots of gently sloping roofs and open rooftops, the streets are either made of dirt or paved with cobblestones<ref name="1.13" />

===Park & Playground:===
In the midst of the city there is a park with a playground occupying a part of it. The playground is like a jungle gym; long tunnels of smooth, polished wood connect towers that spiral upwards like a miniature castle. Monkey bars are set twenty feet in the air, above a floor that you have to climb up a long rope just to get to and a slide that curves downwards over thirty feet. The towering construction of wood and stone goes up four stories high. It has separate rooms with glass windows for children to occupy and play in walls with grips and even a huge rope bridge which sways and wobbles.

There are magical spells on the playing area, cast by a Wistram mage and checked upon each year. One of the spells freezes the air around the falling and slows them down to a crawl, until they softly land on the ground.<ref name="2.41" />

[[City Watch|Liscor's City Watch]] can take care of any monsters that appear, as they are known to have highly skilled and strong members who could be considered Silver-rank or even Gold-rank [[Adventurer|adventurers]], like [[Relc Grasstongue|Relc]]. The City Watch consists of 4000 members, but has been reduced by recent attacks on the city.<ref name="1.44" />

== History ==
Gnomes were explorers and attempted to explore Innworld's space. When they discovered the stars were just orbs hanging there because the Gods didn't understand how actual stars worked, they were disappointed and set their sights to exploring other worlds instead.

When the Gods proposed their Grand Design, the Gnomes spoke against it. When the [[God War|War of the Gods]] began, they sided with most of the Elves against the Gods. They were responsible for the mental filter which made the world's inhabitants believe that the Gods are dead, winning the war.<ref name=":1">[https://wanderinginn.com/2022/04/17/8-80/ Chapter 8.80]</ref>

After the War, the Gnomes helped rebuild from the devastation, battled the remaining loyalists of the Gods like [[Sprigaena]], and made amends to the other worlds ruined by the fighting.<ref name=":1" /> They also left safeguards in case the Gods returned. They aided the younger Fraerling race by giving them The Great Project, sets of blueprints that helped the Fraerlings develop faster technologically.<ref>[https://wanderinginn.com/2021/06/08/interlude-luan-the-giant/ Interlude - Luan the Giant]</ref> They also entrusted them with The Last Boxes.

Some Gnomes left to other worlds.<ref name=":1" /> Those that remained let themselves die out without repopulating. They believed that any children they had would've been too smart and would inevitably dig too deep.<ref name=":0" /> One of the last gnomes, [[Zineryr]], lived for thousands of years after the war.

Upon dying, their ghosts started to realize that something was wrong. [[Dead Gods|Six]] of the Gods returned and clung to existence, and they had missed the Demigod under [[Rhir]], so they made more plans to fix that.

When [[Norechl]] lead his kin, the [[Seamwalkers]], to the surface of [[Kasignel]], Gnomes, [[Elves]], [[Halflings]], and other races abandoned Baleros. In total, there were 18 gnomes.<ref>[https://wanderinginn.com/2022/04/10/8-78-f/ Chapter 8.78 F]</ref> Sprigaena lured the [[Timewalker]] to the surface of Kasignel with [https://thewanderinginn.fandom.com/wiki/Sprigaena#Equipment Elfbane] according to the Gnomes' plan, scaring Emerrhain enough to turn on magic, skills, classes, and entropy for everyone in Kasignel.<ref name=":0" /> The gnomes were consumed until the last one, Zineryr, revealed himself to Enchanter [[Ilekrome]] in [[Paeth|Paeth on the Coast]], and managed to trap Emerrhain inside one of the Last Boxes. The Last Boxes were revealed to be god-prisons entrusted to the Fraerlings for safe-keeping.<ref name=":1" />

Gnomes were inventors. [[Teriarch]] claims that the [[Elves]] and Gnomes were constantly intrigued by new discoveries and knowledge. Gnomes had a reputation as tricksters and pranksters. They are generally jovial. They act like grandparents or eternal uncles, and possess youth and innocence that age cannot erase.<ref name=":0" /> They are meddlesome folks, and are the best at it. They're good at chess. They never liked being generals or leading armies.<ref name=":1" />

Gnomes chose not to gain classes or levels, as they refused to play the Gods' game.<ref name=":0" />

== Synopsis ==
Note: This chapter's events continue from the previous chapter.

In the bloodfields, the Adult Creler taunts Yvlon and the other adventurers who run towards the portal door to the inn. Montressa tries to get Erin to open the portal door by using a [Message] spell, but fails as there is no one from the Mage's Guild near the Inn. A few adventurers decide to stay back to hold the line, like the Horns of Hammerad, Boltspitters, Thunder’s Solace and Ensoldier Shields. Some adventurers stay back even though their team doesn't - like Captain Kam from the Whistling Bows. The Wistram team also stays back - Isceil, Bezale, Palt, Ulinde, Montressa. They are barely able to hold back the crelers back.

But the door does not open and the Adult Creler starts attacking, breaking through their lines. In a flash, it descends on to Isceil and rips him to pieces. Yvlon charges the creler, but it cuts her arm despite the other adventurers trying to cover her. Az'kerash, looking through Ijvani's eyes, tells her the adventurers and Wistram mages will flee soon and commands her to help Pisces retreat.

In the bloodfields, Montressa's barriers fail once due to her fear of the bone horrors around her. Pisces confronts Montressa to bring her back from her fear-haze. During this, the other adventurers and Wistram mages are badly damaged. While Palt and Bezale try to tear off crelers from Ulinde, the adventurers get a brief respite as they notice a colony of Face-Eater Moths and everything else in the Bloodfields attacking the crelers. The Adult Creler attacks and kills Captain Kam. Tommie jumps into the Adult Creler's mouth to attack it, but dies to the baby crelers that were hiding inside it.

As the door opens, the adventurers closest to the door rush towards it. Palt runs away with Bezale and Ulinde, while Montressa stays back. The crelers manage to get to the inn before some of the adventurers, and swarm inside. A juvenile creler manages to kill Crossbow Stan. Pisces takes Montressa to the top of a hill and asks her to hide. He drinks a lot of mana potions and creates a Bone Behemoth, which charges the Adult Creler.

The adventurers, dead from exhaustion, prepare to make a final stand. Pisces fuses Yvlon's bones at the joints, and pours a healing potion on top, which is just enough to let her perform some attacks. [[Yvlon Byres|Yvlon]] charges the Adult Creler, but the enchantment in her sword breaks, making it much heavier. The Adult Creler attacks on Yvlon, but fails to harm her as Montressa applies her barrier. Yvlon applies a scroll of [Lion’s Strength] and charges the Adult Creler again, as the barrier breaks.

Ceria and Pisces realize that they can upgrade the Bone Behemoth by linking their magic. A Frostmarrow Behemoth rises and charges the Adult Creler and manages to hold it in place, but isn't able to damage it. Meanwhile, Yvlon keeps on pummeling the Adult Creler at the same spot, and manages to break the Creler's shell. The Adult Creler, panicking now, manages to break free from the Frostmarrow Behemoth. Yvlon is able to hold on to it and burrow into its body, but the creler finally manages to throw her out. Ksmvr, manages to jump into the hole and uses Yvlon's sword to cut the Creler's pulsating brain.

From the inn, Grimalkin, Jelaqua and a few other adventurers and [[Pallass]]' soldiers charge in to kill the adult. They soon realize that the adult is almost dead - it's body is just a mindless husk and is separate from the pulsating brain. They realize that the adventurers must have killed it and rush to find the survivors. While reaching for an antidote Grimalkin says out loud that he found the team that killed the creler - the Horns of Hammerad.

The chapter ends, with Yvlon getting a few skills and level ups, and her arms back. They are metal now. The Watch and the Soldiers cheer the Horns of Hammerad, while they have a reunion. Az'kerash, watching from afar, bows to them.
