| [[Erin Solstice|Erin]] wakes up to [[Relc Grasstongue|Relc]] banging on her door. When she opens it, he excitedly presents her with two goblin heads and offers to place them on poles around the inn to deter further goblin attacks. Overwhelmed by disgust, Erin vomits and collapses to the floor. Relc, confused by her reaction, helps her up and back into a chair. Once she manages to settle herself and stop vomiting, she starts screaming and forces Relc, who genuinely believes he has done nothing wrong, out of the inn.

| Determined to rectify the situation, Erin takes the goblin heads and searches for the bodies. When she finds them—a male and a female—she buries the heads alongside the bodies in a makeshift grave. Just as she places the last head into the ground, a [[Rags|scrawny female goblin child]] attacks her. Erin fends the child off without harming her and finishes the burial.

| Moments after covering the graves, a goblin tribe arrives, led by their Chieftain—a [[Hobgoblin]]. The Chieftain fires a few shots at Erin, and it becomes clear from the other goblins’ lack of interference and the deliberate pace of the chieftain's approach that this is some kind of revenge ritual. Erin retreats into the inn, panicking as she realizes she cannot defeat the Chieftain in direct combat. As she hides, she reflects on the fact that if her had put more forethought and planning into her actions a lot of the problems her encountered may have been avoided. finally, after some internal turmoil Erin comes to a grim decision: she must kill the Chieftan or be kill. Resolving herself to the task, she begins planning her next move with newfound determination.
