=== Volume 9 === Silvenia's comeback made Othius IV feel trepidation in his bones each day, as she tested the magical net around each major city. The king had seen the night sky light up each time Silvenia tested the 5th or 4th wall. Furthermore, the return of the Deathless made Othius' will waver and caused him to snap at his own advisors, as Silvenia was able to do things they hadn't expected to be possible. Az'Kerash mentioned that his enemies are hardly as dangerous as those of the Chandrarian Tyrant. He noted that the Deathless are the last of his enemies that might still surpass him. During his talk with Nerrhavia, he also suspected that Silvenia might still be at a higher level than he is. While [Greater Teleport] spell transferred her and the Demon colonists to the New Lands of Izril, Silvenia wondered about the nature of undead and the possibility of returning as a Lich after death. As the Half-Elf flew about searching for new forms of undead, she let her contingent spread out. Anxious Demons implored her to stay near the camp and not use too much of her magic to transform the terrain, lest she expose them. Silvenia grudgingly agreed, but she was annoyed because of everyone wanting her time. She understood that the Demons needed her, and she worked for their betterment, but she longed to see what the new generation of Wistram mages was made of and to challenge herself against powerful figures such as Archmage Eldavin, Vizir Hecrelunn, the King of Destruction, the Titan, and the Stalker. More than anything, she wanted to explore the New Lands, but she couldn't abandon her role. So the Half-Elf stayed for a while, talking to the Djinni who had come with them and wondering if the Demons would survive in the New Lands and whether new Deathless would emerge from their ranks, or whether they would all die within months. After that, Silvenia had to teleport back to Rhir to transport a ship and another group of colonist to Chandrar's northern shores in order to help the Demons spread out. During the events of Valeterisa's visit to Fissival, Silvenia was mentioned as one of the few [Mages] in the world capable of casting the [Flight] spell. During Valeterisa's conversation with the Drakes in the city, the topic of The Death of Magic was brought up. The Drakes remarked that they had fought 2,000 of Silvenia's summoned Demons in plate armor but had not faced the Deathless herself. Furthermore, it was noted that she could conjure "fake" armies every week. When Erin Solstice visited Riverfarm, Wiskeria told her that no Archmage living in the world, except for the Death of Magic, remembers that “[Monks] clapping their hands, a [Bard]’s guitar, the swing of a [Blademaster]’s sword—it’s all magic.” Silvenia participated in Erin's chess competition, where she was described as the greatest [Mage] in the world. Despite hating the game, Silvenia not only took part in the competition but also watched others play. She camouflaged her identity while playing and actively tried to disrupt other players' connections to reduce her number of opponents. Silvenia's tactic involved using [Siphon Luck] from a group of Demons; however, despite this, she lost to Feshi, which left the Death of Magic furious at the outcome. Blighted Kingdom was trying to change their Earthers into a force capable of taking down the Demons, and said nation was getting more support from the others than it had gotten in a century. The reason for that was that the Deathless were back. The Deaths were not sitting idle while the Blighted Kingdom trained their Earthers. At that moment it was noted that Death of Wings hasn't showed herself yet, but Silvenia's magic, which was second to none, was already bad enough for the Blighted Kingdom, whose analysts suspected that Silvenia was healing herself and the other deaths. Furthermore, one of the Earthers, Nerrin, had died to attack of Crelers pouring out a cupboard, despite the Kingdom's rigorous security measures. More Earthers would've died to the attack if not for the Richard's being there. Silvenia was spying on the training Blighted Kingdom's Earthers and, while she was hundred of miles away from them, she began to chant a number of spells, including [Create: Pebble], [Enchantment: Void Resistance], [Enchantment: Adamantium’s Strength], [Bind Spell: Geyser of the Water Serpent], [Alter Spell: Acidic Blightwater], [Greater Lightning Bolt]—[Drain Momentum], [Greater Lightning Bolt]—[Drain Momentum], [Coordinate Lock], [Spell Skill: Unerring Aim], and more, to create a deadly projectile aimed at the Earthers. The enchanted pebble did not manage to hit them, as it was drained out of magic after traveling distance of over a 100 miles. The reason for that was Blighted Kingdom's anti-magic stones dug into the ground for hundreds of miles. The cost of that method was described as equal to annual expenses of 8 nations, and hoarded resources of Khelt, and the negative-side effect was that it poisoned the earth itself, and would inhibit the magical growth of every [Mage], every child and person living there, yet it was an effective tactic against Silvenia. Due to it, she was not able to use her summoned Demon armies to attack the 5th Wall, and even her 7th tier spells wouldn't be able to pass even 3rd Wall if cast from afar. Silvenia was considering her moves in that situation. One way for her was to teleport and try to attack Paranfer from an angle that couldn't be covered with anti-magic. However, Silvenia knew that Blighted Kingdom wants her to try that and thus she didn't want to risk getting boxed in by the enemy forces. The other tactic that she thought of was removing the anti-magic stones. She used a tier 7 spell, [Hellfire Pillar] to burn away the stones, but the black-red fire died out fast, mainly due to the anti-magic effect. The Death of Magic knew that if she repeated that, she would eventually make a gap, or deplete the Blighted Kingdom's resources, but this too was the outcome desired by the enemy Kingdom, as it would buy them more time to train the Earthers. Afterwards, Silvenia conceded defeat that time and teleported 3 adult Crelers on top of the 5th Wall, which made her laugh. She poured herself a cup of coffee and watched. When the defenders rushed to fight them off, she teleported 1,000 pounds of stones on top of them. It was not an effective use of her mana, and the 5th Wall wouldn't fall even if she did it every day for a year, but it cheered her up. Silvenia was thinking about her and the Demons' situation while still being in the air. She knew that the Blighted Kingdom and Demon Kingdom were in a stalemate, and she hated that, as it meant she was being thwarted. Silvenia was thinking about new high-level foes appearing, like monsters from the Gates of Hell—an area where the Rhir horrors came from, and where Silvenia had once gone. She had decided then that she wished to kill the Blighted Kingdom before she died. The Demons' situation, in her assessment, was becoming harder. The appearance of Archmage Eldavin, Khelt "banging a drum," Earthers, and powerful hidden figures in Ailendamus were among the things she thought about. Silvenia liked a challenge, but in her opinion, her enemies had not earned their strength. She was comparing herself, an [Archmage], to the new, young Archmages of Wistram. She wished to meet them and "remind them how an [Archmage] disputed things," but she knew she couldn't, as she was too needed in the kingdom of Demons. She mentioned her being Silvenia of Ages, the Archmage of Terandria, the Archmage of the Forgotten Era—master of ancient magics and old techniques. She could use her magic to mimic 60–70% of what someone with other classes of her level could do, but she wished for proper support that could further empower her magic. Next, the Death of Magic was thinking about how to use her power in service of the Demons when she was magically "pinged." She would've tossed a spell back down the connection, yet she didn't do it due to her interest in the person responsible for it. Silvenia shot out toward the sea to check it out, and Czautha asked her if it was Roshal who had mailed her, to which the other Death said that she would send it back if it was them. It turned out to be a magical undead-based bird made out of ivory, enchanted with a few powerful spells. The bird had a message for Silvenia. An unknown woman’s voice, unfamiliar to the Death, made Silvenia both amused and wrathful at the content of the message. The woman requested the Death of Magic to cast spells into the beak of the magical bird, which she did by casting three spells: [Hurricane of Flames], [Disintegration Orb, Beam Dispersal], and [A Hundred Thousand Seeking Arrows of Deathlight]. To her concern, all of the spells vanished inside of a vortex in the bird's mouth. Silvenia reinforced her magical shields in case the bird decided to attack, but it didn’t. Instead, it gave Silvenia a clue about the Crossroads of Izril and things she might find there. When the message was done, Silvenia realized it had just been a recording, and the bird began to fall apart into pieces, which Silvenia caught for analysis. Afterwards, Silvenia hung in the air until Czautha asked what had happened. The realization that Silvenia had been tricked made her so angry and embarrassed that she began firing tier 7 spells at the 5th Wall.
